Media Store is a Java application that was created during my final year Computing project in 2011. It will organise your video files and provides an intuitive interface for users to play them. To be able to support this project, it will ask for twitter permissions (more on this later). You'll need to go to java.com and install Java Run time environment for your browser.
I recommend using Chrome browser, but if you can not see a launch button above, follow this link to Oracle and follow the instructions depending on your browser. https://www.java.com/en/download/help/enable_browser.xml
Before you run the application, you need to setup Java security to accept this website by doing the following in windows:
Mediastore will not download properly if the above procedure is not done. When you download the JNLP file, chrome will state a warning about keeping this file. Click "Keep". If using another browser, accept the file and click it.
A Java splash screen should appear and then it will download all the components from the server.
After downloading Media Store, you will get some notices that there are security risks involved. Click accept.
When you start Mediastore, you will get a browser popping up asking permissions to use your twitter account. Please accept this to support this project. It will only write new posts of what you've watched and when, with a link to this website so that others can enjoy it.
In order to help my project further, it is given as a download for free. The only caveat is you need to have an online connection as JNLP will automatically check if there are any updates and update the app as necessary. Also in supporting this project, it will automatically create tweets using OAuth which is a safe method for Mediastore to post on your behalf.
The way that the tweet will look like is as follows: Watching [Video name] on [Full date and time], get Media store for free [link]. Tweets such as these will hopefully cause conversations and retweets of what you have watched and make for interesting debate.
Happy viewing and tweeting!
